The year 2018 was a hectic and special year for me.
Being a beauty blogger, I got the chance to try new amazing green beauty products. Not only that but also I was honored to be part of the judging team for the 4th Clean Beauty Awards.
The Clean Beauty Awards is organized by CertClean, North America’s certification for safer skincare. They aim to spread awareness about nontoxic skincare by helping shoppers easily discover beauty and personal care products formulated without ingredients recognized to cause harm to human health. There are now 1000+ products proudly bearing the CertClean mark.
The Clean Beauty Awards includes 15 categories (makeup to hair care to skincare), and I was assigned the eye care category along with some beauty experts.
I received six eye care products, each of which I tried for about two weeks while taking notes about the product claims, ease of use, odor, texture, and whether I would recommend it or not.
It was not easy, and I was really excited to know that one of the six products that I tried made it to the finalist!
I had two things to find out each time I tried a product:
• Does it work?
• Is it clean?
So here are the six eye care products that I tried:
Organic Island Restructuring Eye Cream
This eye cream is for use as anti-wrinkle, brightening, and age-defying. The ingredients are clearly listed in a table format on the side of the package (and on their website).
It is free from Parabens, SLS, Petrochemicals, artificial colors and fragrances, Phthalates, PEGS, and DMDM & DEA. Moreover, the ingredients are certified organic or naturally derived ingredients.
The eye cream has a creamy texture that is not greasy, and it worked well under my concealer; did not become cakey, or dry. I should mention that the package was an air-tight pump, no one likes jars that expose your products to all kinds of germs, right?!
The brand is an Australian brand that is certified locally by Australian Certified Organic (ACO) and internationally by BDIH Germany (BDIH).
This eye cream was one of my favorites, and I was so happy when I knew that it made it to the finalists, Congrats!
AYR Skin Care Revitalizing Awaken Eye Serum
AYR Skin Care is an American brand specialized in the face and body care products that are clean and non-toxic.
The eye serum has a cream texture, absorbs quickly into the skin, so it does not leave my skin greasy or sticky.
The air-tight pump protects this serum and makes it easy to dispense a small amount of the product.
Raww Smooth-ME Fine Line Serum
I was impressed by the wide variety of products this brand has; including makeup and skincare.
The Australian made products are infused with powerful superfoods like coconut water, goji berry, and acai plum; only contain natural ingredients, certified vegan, and also 100% cruelty-free.
The eye serum is supposed to fight premature aging and reduce fine lines. While it was hard to observe any changes regarding my fine lines, this serum helps keep my skin hydrated.
It has a thick liquid texture and takes a few minutes to be absorbed completely. It also worked well under my makeup; so I did not need to use an eye cream on top of it.
If you live in Australia, I highly recommend this brand.
Ellie & Carl Skin Botanicals Age Zero Eye Serum
This eye serum was designed for mature skin to help hydrate the skin and supports the skin with the essential fatty acids.
The dark blue glass dropper bottle protects the organic ingredients, and when I apply the liquid serum using the dropper, it absorbs fast and leaves my skin hydrated.
The face and body products are made in Malta, but they do ship worldwide.
Atlantis Skincare Eye Cream with Hyaluronic Acid
Atlantis Skincare eye cream is handmade in the UK using 100% natural ingredients.
This light-weight lotion is not greasy, and it has a sweet citrus smell that I adore. It also penetrates quickly into the skin without leaving it greasy.
I like how it leaves the skin around my eyes fresh and reduces the signs of fatigue.
La Prétentieuse Cranberry Oil Anti-wrinkles Eye and Lips Cream
This product is excellent for both the skin under your eyes and your lips.
Made in Québec, the instructions were written in French, so I had some difficulties reading the label and figuring out what ingredients were used in it.
Luckily I found the product page online and managed to translate to English.
It is 100% natural; it helps moisturize the skin and brighten your eyes.
A long time ago, it was hard to follow a green beauty regime, and it was a challenge to keep your vanity free from toxins. This all changed; now you have so many options to choose from, and you no longer have to choose between what is safe and what works.
