Since my 11 years old daughter started exploring the skincare world, I thought that she should keep her skin care regimen simple, yet it should be effective.
And yes! I was right!
By only using two products; cleanser from Clean & Clear, and a moisturizer from Cheryl Lee MD (reviewed here), she succeeded to achieve the glowy and healthy skin every teen would dream of. There are no more breakouts, just one or two per month, and no greasy, oily, or shiny face.
On the other hand, things were a bit complicated for me; the 38 years old mom.
Every fall, my combination skin turns to become dry on my cheeks, sometimes even itchy, while still oily on the t-zone, and dark spots keep on teasing me each time I look in the mirror!
I tried many creams, some of which were good enough to help my skin survive during winter. But there was one brand that I wanted to try, that is the derma e®.
Two weeks ago, I received one of derma e® best-selling products; the derma e® Anti-Wrinkle Vitamin A Retinyl Palmitate Crème. One of the wrinkles-prevention skincare line.
Introducing derma e®
Derma e® was founded in 1984 by David Stearn and Dr. Linda Miles (Doctor of Oriental Medicine). With the humble commitment of offering skin-friendly skin care, derma e® now offers over 80 unique skin care products.
Why is Retinol Good for Your Skin?
When I did my research about retinol, I found that it helps nearly in every skin problem women over 30 may have.
In my post, Your Ultimate Guide to Retinol Creams: the Anti-aging Superstar:
“Retinol stimulates the cellular turnover from deep within the layers of your skin; it helps reduce wrinkles, cure acne, tighten pores, stimulate the production of collagen and fades age spots.”
Ingredients:
Retinyl palmitate is one of the retinol derivatives.
Purified Water (Aqua), Carthamus Tinctorius (Safflower) Seed Oil, Glycerin, Stearic Acid, Glyceryl Stearate SE, Cetyl Alcohol, Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil, Sesamum Indicum (Sesame) Seed Oil, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Retinyl Palmitate (Vitamin A), Glycine Soja (Soybean) Oil, Panthenol (Provitamin B5), Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E), Allantoin, Cedrus Atlantica (Cedarwood) Essential Oil, Phenylethyl Alcohol, Vanillin, Carbomer, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin.
My derma e® Experience
During the first few days of using derma e crème, I noticed small dry spots on my cheeks, but it lasted for only a few days, then everything was fine. I did not suffer from itchy skin, which normally happens during cold seasons. Unlike other retinol creams that I tried before, my skin did not dry, and I did not have to apply another moisturizer during the day. It also did not leave my skin greasy though it has a quite thick consistency.
I also applied it underneath my eyes, where there are visible fine lines. And I liked how it leaves my under eye area well moisturized, and with no irritation.
Did it help fade wrinkles on my forehead and underneath my eyes? It is hard to tell since I did not notice any visible reduction in fine lines. I have been using it for two weeks only, so I have to wait a bit longer to find out if it helps fade these wrinkles or not. Nevertheless, my skin is suppler and smoother.
I like that derma e® Anti-Wrinkle Vitamin A Retinyl Palmitate Crème is suitable for all skin types, paraben-free, phthalate-free, GMO-free, gluten-free, sodium lauryl sulfate-free, petrolatum-free, mineral oil-free, 100% vegan and cruelty-free, and dye-free. And I would recommend it to all my friends as a great anti-aging crème.
You can shop this product at derma e® website and most Walgreens.
