Perhaps every aging woman’s dream is to look youthful and lovely even at the age of sixty. The smoothness of sixteen-year-old skin is something that is definitely worth preserving. I bet all of us have occasionally come across that one person with beautiful skin and have been quite astonished to discover their actual age. How do they do it? Let’s find out, shall we?
Stay Hydrated
The more research you do on skin care, the more you will notice that everyone suggests “hydration” as one of their tips. This is because it is possibly the most important and most effective element. It is not a myth that hydrated skin is happy skin.Drinking plenty of water has a purifying effect and prevents your skin from looking oily. Splashing a bit of water on your face every now and then (throughout the day) can do more wonders for your natural glow than any face wash or face whitening creams. Don’t believe me? Try it for a month and see if I’m right!
The Wonders of Vitamin E
Any dermatologist will tell you that vitamin E works wonders for repairing dry and damaged skin. There are free radicals constantly being produced in our skin that damage collagen and increase dryness of skin. Vitamin E has antioxidants that negate the effect of these free radicals hence protecting the skin from damage. Since our bodies cannot produce this vitamin, we have to make sure we get enough of it from other sources. Although there is a steady supply of vitamin E lotions in the market, they have to be supplemented by the intake of natural foods that are rich in vitamin E in order to be more effective. Keep Your Makeup Equipment Clean
Dust easily settles on makeup brushes, especially when they are still sticky with remnants of makeup. When you use these brushes the next time, all that dust mixes with your makeup and goes straight onto your precious skin. Is that damaging? Yes! So keep your brushes clean!
Take off Your Makeup
Leaving your makeup on at bedtime can cause a lot of unwanted skin issues in the long run. It has also been known to cause eye infections, dark circles and in some cases even chronic rashes. And even if it doesn’t cause any immediately visible damage, over time it causes skin cells to deteriorate making you look older than you actually are.
So why put your skin through all that? Olive oil being a completely natural cleansing agent works fantastically to wipe off that make up before bed.But we don’t want to be left looking oily so splash some water on your face!

Cover up for Travel
If you travel in the city a lot, dust, and other pollutants can get lodged in your pores. This can cause your skin to look rough and tan even without exposure to the sun. Constant exposure to the sun is also another factor to consider. Using sunscreen too often can damage your skin rather than protect it. I was appalled to learn what it can actually do to you. Read more about it here.
We all know that prevention is better than cure. So instead of having to do damage control after exposing your skin to all sorts, why not just protect it in the beginning with a scarf or something?
Regular Maintenance
No matter how much you try to protect your skin, odds are that it will be exposed to unwanted contaminants at some point or the other. Obviously just splashing water on it all the time is not enough. It is necessary to exfoliate your skin from time to time with natural salt or sugar based scrubs to get out all the grime that collects over time.
In order to maintain your glow, a certain topical application is also necessary from time to time. But like I said before, it is important to use natural agents and avoid chemically processed and manufactured products. Cucumber or tomato juice (or paste) are excellent substitutes for any sort of chemical product.
Don’t believe anyone who guarantees that you will never look old. Aging is a natural process that is completely inevitable. The most you can do is prolong it for a little while. Do not be dismayed when it finally comes on. But regular skin care will go a long way. Just know that you did your best to look after your skin and keep doing all you can. Embrace it and age gracefully.
