Common Hair Complaints and Effective Ways to Fix Them

26/09/2021 //  by Dima Al Mahsiri//  Leave a Comment

Hair is an important part of our beauty. It influences how we look and feel about ourselves, and everyone has some complaints or problems with their hair. There are many common hair complaints, some of these are split ends, frizzy hair, oily hair, dry scalp, and dandruff.

Split ends can occur when the outer layer of the hair strand breaks off because it is too dry or too brittle.

Frizzy hair can be caused by humidity or not enough moisture in your environment. Oily hair can be caused by products that weigh down the hair, overactive sebum production, or hormones like testosterone and DHT which lead to more greasy-looking locks.

Hair Care Tips

Here are a few common hair complaints and effective ways to know how to volumize flat hair.

Prevent Damage Before it Happens

Hormones, chemicals, and general stress are all factors that can weaken your hair. Luckily, there are many things you can do to protect your hair before it becomes damaged. To prevent damage before it happens, you should avoid coloring your hair frequently or using harsh shampoos that contain sulfates or alcohol.

You should only use Blow-drying when necessary to avoid frizzy hair. You can also use hair treatments to strengthen your hair and make it healthier.

Get Rid of Dandruff

Everyone has had at least one day in which they woke up with a dry scalp. It is not surprising since your scalp is constantly exposed to harsh chemicals when you are shampooing or conditioning your hair. This is why it is important to follow up with a moisturizing conditioner; in order to replenish any lost moisture.

A dry scalp can also be an indicator of seborrheic dermatitis, which causes the skin on your scalp to be dry, itchy, and inflamed.

If you have been dealing with this issue for a while, then you should consult with a dermatologist about the best treatment plan for you.

Scalp acne can also lead to dryness and scaling on your scalp and cause dandruff. With modern hair formulas, the best way to get rid of this type of dandruff is using products with anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial properties.

Frizzy Hair

Frizzy hair

Frizzy hair is a common problem for many people. It can happen due to environmental factors, stress, or even excessive heat/sun exposure. First, you should hydrate your hair by using a leave-in conditioner, this helps to lock in moisture and also protect hair from damage. One should then diffuse the hair and use a heated styling tool to take out any tangles that may remain.

In addition, towel dry your hair with a microfiber towel, which has been warmed up before use. This will help seal in water and also remove any excess product that may be left on the scalp or strands of your hair.

Fix Your Hair from Breaking Easily

We all want to have long hair, but the problem is that it might break easily. This is because there is a difference between healthy and unhealthy hair. Unhealthy hair will be more prone to breaking, this can be caused by damage or chemical treatments such as perms and colors. There are a few ways to avoid breaking your own hair, together with some tips on how to stop breaking your own hair.

Using a leave-in conditioner is great for taking care of any issues your hair may have. If you don’t want to go out and buy a new bottle of leave-in conditioner, you can use the one you already have at home! Apply it evenly through your wet or dry hair and comb through. One way to protect yourself from breakage is by creating a protective style like braids or dreadlocks.

Oily Scalp

Oily scalp, also called seborrhea, is the most common hair complaint. It can lead to excessive flaking and itching which can result in hair loss. Oily scalp occurs when glands in the skin produce too much oil. There are 3 main causes for this issue including excessively high levels of hormones, genetic predisposition, and side effects of other medications like antidepressants or corticosteroids, or birth control pills.

It may be hard to identify the problem yourself because it can vary from person to person. For example, some people might have only an oily scalp while other people might suffer from all three symptoms.

Limp Strands

Limp strands can be caused by many factors. The most common one is a lack of water, but there are other factors as well. Apart from making sure that they drink enough water, people can also use a serum to make their hair stay in place and a volumizing product for their roots. Finally, they can also turn to conditioners with added proteins to help repair the hair.
